In 1966 Hollywood produced one of the most entertaining science fiction movies ever made: Fantastic Voyage. The story line involves the miniaturization of a submersible with a crew of scientists and doctors that is injected into a human body to perform a delicate surgery on the brain of a dying man. I was reminded of the film when I had a political discussion with a medical doctor recently. This educated physician is a practitioner of ultra-left wing political philosophy. After 45 minutes I thought it would be instructive if we could use the technology from the movie by injecting the sub into a Democrat not to repair a damaged brain but to make a fruitless search for any evidence of a functioning brain.

In a prior post I made the observation: If Pavlov had had access to Democrats he would not have needed dogs. Ironically it is the Democrats that are obsessed with intelligence, or rather, their perception of intelligence. Reagan was an “amiable dunce”, Dan Quayle insisted that the word potato ended with an “e”, Sarah Palin was every bit as stupid as John McCain and W was, well, just plain dumb (“They misunderestimated me.”).

Sadly AOC and her squad, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Quid pro Joe Biden make the aforementioned Republicans look like members of the Diogenes Club. My discussion with the good doctor also identified a debilitating trait that is standard equipment among Democrats. Like The Enterprise they are equipped with powerful “deflector shields” that protect them, not from photon torpedoes, but from facts and logic. I was so taken with this defense mechanism that I asked him where he purchased his dilithium crystals. He was completely stumped by the reference.

Here are a few examples of the shields at work.

There are apparently “white supremacists” everywhere and they can be readily detected by any self-respecting leftist. KKK membership is around 3,000 which equates to 1 per 110,000 people. About the same frequency we find Zoroastrians. Ask for evidence and you get the Pavlovian response: Charlottesville. See aljazeera for a measured, balanced analysis of that event. Before Charlottesville the reflexive measure of white supremacy was the 1978 Skokie rally where all of two dozen Nazis showed up. The fact that there are very few white racists does not even register with a leftist…they are still everywhere.

The deflector shields are always arrayed when the subject is global climate change. The love of “science” disappears. The long and growing list of failed predictions are lost in the mists of time. The Minoan, Roman and Medieval warming periods are not subject to recall and, as such, require no rebuttal. The Washington Post ran an article on November 2 which noted that the the Arctic Ocean was warming, icebergs were disappearing and seals were endangered because it was too warm. Evidence of our pending doom. Neither AOC nor Al Gore was asked to comment, however, because the article was written in 1922.

The prediction of a greater number of more intense hurricanes was followed by the longest recorded period during which no Category 3 hurricane made landfall in the US. It was predicted that the Himalayas would lose 500 billion cubic yards of ice in ten years…ten years later no change in ice volume. We still await the video of Al Gore kayaking across an ice free North Pole. We pay homage to St. Greta of Thunberg who is the poster child for the failure of the education system in Sweden. The US equivalent is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. When I suggested that AOC is a roaming village idiot the doctor made clear to me that she is, in fact, a “genius” thereby redefining the term. In any case he was unmoved by the introduction of facts and science…deflector shields holding Captain Kirk.

Chuck Todd has industrial strength shields. If you raise any point that is counter to his preconceived notion of the story he interrupts or talks over you. The functional equivalent of “la, la, la, la la, la, I can’t hear you!”. His interviews are antagonistic to even a fleeting outbreak of intellectual curiosity and it is clear that nothing will cause him to change his mind. This is what passes for “reporting the news”.

Please find a leftist and engage him or her in a conversation about the issues. If you plan to make any impact bring photon torpedoes.

Imagine if Donald Trump had any contact with Jeffrey Epstein and his pimpette, Ghislaine Maxwell. It would become the third article of impeachment and it would every bit as solid as the first two.
