A French charge d’affaires (the chief assistant ambassador) wrote in April 1787: “If all the delegates named for this Convention in Philadelphia are present, we will never have seen, even in Europe, an assembly more respectable for the talents, knowledge, disinterestedness, and patriotism of those who compose it.”

That is an exercise in understatement. The men who gathered in Philadelphia 248 years ago authored the most amazing contract between a people and their government in world history. For the last 246 years we have witnessed the most successful governance of a nation ever: politically, economically and socially. The United States is the envy of Western Civilization and those who engage in that envy vote with their feet by migrating to our shores.

Yet today we are dealing with a two pronged attack on the concept of a Constitutional government “of, by and for the people.” On one hand we are facing an external threat by megalomaniacs such as Klaus Schwab and George Soros who see America as a threat to their dreams of an international governing authority with, not surprisingly, themselves at the helm. The EU is engaged in suppressing any politicians who show any interest in protecting the individual countries they wish to represent. In Germany a political party called Alternative for Germany is anti-immigration and has therefore become very popular. Yet the party has been excluded from the Munich Security Conference and legislative power because they are deemed, entirely without evidence, to be reborn Nazis. In France Marine La Pen, also anti-immigration, was the top polling candidate until she was banned from the national election.. In Romania Calin Georgescu was the winner of the first round of voting for the office Prime Minister until he was accused of, stop me if you have heard this before, Russian collusion. Georgescu was arrested and banned from the upcoming election. TDS is more pervasive than Covid.

However we face a more insidious problem here at home. Our Constitution is under attack by the Left at every governmental level. For example, New York City has now nominated a wholly unqualified candidate to run on the Democrat ticket in the upcoming mayoral election. He is absolutely lacks any real world experience yet he wants to micromanage the grocery stores of the largest city in America. This dimwit hates America, the Jews, free enterprise, Trump and ICE, not necessarily in that order. It is not unreasonable to believe that Zohran Mamdani won the door prize at a village idiots convention which levitated him to the top spot on the NYC ticket. One reacts to this development with mixed feelings. As Napoleon is said to have observed: “Never interfere with an enemy while he’s in the process of destroying himself.” Good luck New York and a heads up to low tax states as there may be an exodus from the Empire State not unlike what was seen at the Southern border under Biden.

The attack on our government is made worse by the fact that our public schools have produced a horde of citizens who have no perspective on our history, no ability to critically analyze the events that are taking place around them and a level of gullibility that would make a NYC Democrat voter blush. The schools are selective in the facts that are parceled out in class and the teachers do not accept dissent from the codswollop they are dispensing. The “students” who suffer this inculcation have become easy marks for corrupt news media and hypnotic social media.

The Constitution

Rather than appreciating the miracle in Philadelphia in 1787 the Constitution is dismissed as the product of a group of white men who were clearly suffering from toxic masculinity. These patriarchal arch-villains are portrayed as self-interested protectors of their property, including slaves. Please ignore the finished product which contained the seeds, as Frederick Douglass observed, that would bring about the end of slavery.

Racial History

Students are bombarded with such fictions as the 1619 Project based on the argument, made,without factual basis, that the American experiment in government is built on a foundation of slavery. Critical race theory was a staple in classrooms from coast to coast driving home the meritless argument that Black Americans have been suppressed since 1619 by white supremacists. Gens Alpha and Beta have no appreciation of the horrific conflict, the Civil War, during which over 600,000 Americans died so that the slaves could be freed. Even today young voters nod in ignorant agreement with a Black CNN analyst who suggests that Blacks have never had it worse than the present. Karyn Johnson, aka Whoopi Goldberg, recently announced that American Blacks are worse off than women in Iran. She turns a blind eye to women in Iran who are murdered for appearing in public with the proper head covering. We encounter people under 25 who have never heard of Emmett Till or Jackie Robinson.

Climate

In the movie The Secret of My Success the wife of the CEO complains about the trees on her husbands estate that are “using up all the oxygen”. She is surprised to learn that she has it all backwards. She was as ignorant as young people today who have no understanding of the science of climate change. Recently a pundit on one of the Leftist media outlets threw up a map of high temperatures across the US from June 21-22, 2025. Within 48 hours a map from June 26, 1952 appeared showing the same level of heat from the Atlantic to the Pacific and from the southern border to the Canadian border. It did not include Alaska because it was not yet a state…but don’t tell the kids that as they have no interest in the Dark Ages. 23 years later in April 1975 Newsweek sounded the alarm about the Cooling World. This just may be a cyclical and natural phenomenon.

The Middle East

What happened on October 7, 2023, in Israel was an act of unspeakable barbarity. Despite the actions of the uncivilized ghouls of Hamas within weeks it turned into a worldwide referendum on the survival of Israel. The campuses of American colleges and universities became hotbeds of anti-Judaism marked by chants of “From the river to the sea” (it should be noted that the new Democrat candidate for NYC mayor argued that this chant merely shows how Arabic words can be twisted) and attacks on Jewish students having no direct connection to Israel. Such “students” are ignorant of the Shoah and are unable to explain the basis of their irrational and unfounded hatred of the Jewish people. Schindler’s List should be required viewing for these benighted apologists for the actions of Hamas.

The depth of the ignorance of these products of our government school system makes it almost impossible to engage in critical thinking. They have a reflexive fear of any challenge to what they have been told in school and on social media. We must arm students with the skills required to process new information, especially information that conflicts with what they have been conditioned to accept as absolute truth. Intellectual curiosity must be part of the curriculum in every school in America. We must provide perspective to Gens Alpha and Beta or they will end up like the EU and they will be unable to resist the siren song of the likes of Soros and Schwab.

How bad is the UK now? Two survivors of the Hamas massacre went to the UK to talk about what happened on October 7. When they arrived in Manchester Airport they were detained for more than two hours and subjected to verbal abuse. When asked to explain why it happened the border officials told them: “We need to make sure you are not going to do here what you are doing in Gaza.” Another argument in favor of our American Revolution.

Just as in the movie The Graduate it all comes down to one word: Perspective!
