But first a moment of reflection on the passing of one of the great Justices in the history of the Supreme Court of the United States: Antonin Scalia. Let us hope that Senor Obama does not get the opportunity to place yet another intellectual mediocrity on the Court. I have always thought it important that justices have actually read the Constitution…apparently Obama does not agree with that minor prerequisite.
The senior political party (by age) (the term “Democrat Party” is banned on this Blog because of its long historical ties to Black suppression) held another amusing debate recently. It is tiresome to watch two intellectual flyweights shadow boxing…although that did create an image consistent with the substance of these septuagenarians. Actually rounding up to include the cuckoldette of Bill Clinton.
Once again there was the suggestion that medical care is a “Right”. Herr Sanders laid bare his appalling ignorance of all things philosophical. One cannot have a Right that imposes a burden on a third party. You have a Right to free speech but not the right to be heard. Imagine if Senator John C. Calhoun (D) had argued that southern plantation owners had the “right” to have their cotton picked as a defense of slavery. Medical care is not a Right but a benefit of living in a civil society.
Yet that is the argument by these pandering retreads to defend the obamanation that is Obamacare. There are only two trivial arguments opposing that program: we can’t afford it and it won’t work. Other than that it is a very expensive winner.
It is an immutable law of nature that the government does nothing well or cheaply. In 1965 the Federales projected, to calm critics, that in 1990 Medicare expenses would not exceed $12,000,000 000. In fact it was in excess of $90,000,000,000. That is the equivalent of dispatching a manned rocket to Mars and landing on Neptune…”missed by this much” to quote the immortal Maxwell Smart.
In addition, I cannot find any provision in our Constitution that allows the US government to manage health care much less that allows it to require people to purchase something they don’t want. Imagine a depression in the auto market which galvanizes our “leaders” in Washington to pass legislation requiring every American to buy an American made car forthwith. Think of the price inflation that would follow just as the prices of insurance and medical care have risen under Obamacare. Sadly CJ Roberts was more concerned about his standing in the social register than his role as protector of the Constitution. Earl Warren call your office!
Always remember the principal purpose of the Constitution was to reduce the accretion of power in the Federal government.
