A Political Depressant

In 2008 we had the political equivalent to a beauty contest between Rosie O’Donnell and Roseanne Barr…we had to determine which unqualified contestant would win the White House.  It was toward the end of that epic battle of mediocrities that the ultimate victor announced to the press corpse that he had campaigned in all 57 states.

The sycophantic mediacrities became astronomers when this idiocy dropped like a gumball onto candidate Obama’s tongue and it got scant coverage on the Left.  There were, however, several perfectly plausible explanations for the discovery of six additional states of the Union…one envisions Betsy Ross Jarrett immediately ordering up new 57 star flags.  The first explanation would be that the candidate was so exhausted from dispensing his tired nostrums regarding hope and change that the error was the result of campaign fatigue.  This was reminiscent of the verbal faux pas committed by Richard Nixon on the eve of election day 1968.  During an interview in California late in the evening Nixon calmly referred to “getting to the nut cutting” to show how serious he was about some issue or other.  This led to an audible sphincter tightening of his entire staff.  Understandable but, pre-Clinton, somewhat off putting.

A second possibility is that the candidate was revealing his complete ignorance of US geography.  Admittedly seven years after this took place Obama has managed to convince most of us that ignorance is the most logical explanation.

Or was it…  It has now been determined that there is at least one new state.  The 51st star on the flag belongs to the State of Phantasmagoria and it is ably represented in the US Senate by the ever lovely and winsome Elizabeth Warren.  The Phantasmagorical state constitution bars the recognition or acceptance of reality or human nature.  Further it has limits on who can be elected to state or federal office.  You must be at least 60 or suffering early onset Alzheimers.  You must have an absolute ignorance of the “science” of economics and you must foolishly and erroneously believe you are smarter than the average American.  While not a mandatory requirement it is recommended that you believe with all your heart that you are either 1/64th American Indian or have been to a casino on a reservation.  Happily Ms. Warren gets high marks for each requirement.

Ms. Warren actually believes that “(t)here is nobody in this country who got rich on his own — nobody.”   She caps her anti-freedom anti-personal property rant by claiming that “the underlying social contract is, you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”  This from a parasite who has not earned a nickel in the real world.  If you read her biographies the word “brilliant” is thrown about with reckless abandon but to date there is no empirical data to support the application of that word to anything she has said or done.

We need to know a bit about her because serious observers of the political landscape have opined that when Bernie “Santa” Sanders dodders off the stage the sexagenarian Warren will receive the baton as the representative of the fever swamp left.   This is sobering because we must conclude that she actually believes the twaddle that passes through her lips.  She has no comprehension of the damage done by liberal policies especially to the poor and Blacks.  The concept of unintended (but completely predictable) collateral damage is beyond her comprehension.  So when the not so Great Society destroys poor families and the “fair” housing policies of the Clinton administration cause a financial meltdown by forcing banks to make home loans to people who cannot possibly make the payments she will, in true Pavlovian fashion, blame George Bush, all Republicans, global warming, Herbert Hoover, the ozone hole and/or the Tea Party.  You can’t solve a problem if you do not know what caused said problem.  It is ironic that she gives the federal government credit for all personal successes but is incapable of understanding that the same federal Leviathan might actually be responsible for the disasters that befall the US and world economies.

The purpose of the government is to ensure that there are no government imposed impediments to opportunity.  Everyone should be able to get to the starting line but it should be understood that there are naturally occurring handicaps that will impact the ability to “win” the race.  The government must not be perceived as having the power to dictate an equal result.  There will always be a random distribution of attributes such as athletic skills, intelligence, artistic talent, etc.  This will necessarily lead to varying levels of success and, dare we say it, different levels of financial reward.  Ms. Warren, Bernie Sanders,  Hilliary Clinton and Barack Obama are incapable of grasping this simple proposition and they believe that the levers of power must be used to arrange equal outcomes (except, of course, as it applies to them).  This thinking will lead inexorably to a dictatorship of the “elite”…the joke is that the people who think like this perceive themselves to be the ruling class that should run the show despite the fact that they have no real world experience…witness our community organizer President.  A textbook application of the Peter Principle.

This leads to the group think that allows the bobbing head dolls in the Congress and the Obama administration to believe that Obamacare will be financially viable and will, in fact, improve the delivery of quality healthcare.  This position can be lovingly embraced because reality will be ignored.  Romneycare will be held up as a success without noting that there is a federal payment to Massachusetts every year to keep it financially viable.

This is how common core math works!
