Dorothy Gale, Inquiring Mind

What American author wrote: “The worst that can happen under monarchy is rule by a single imbecile, but democracy often means the rule by an assembly of three or four hundred imbeciles.”?

What British Prime Minister said: “We have not overthrown the divine right of kings to fall down for the divine right of experts.”?

What playwright said: “Kings are not born: they are made by artificial hallucination.”?

Answers at the end of the post.

Dorothy Gale famously asked: “What would you do with a brain if you had one?” That should be the first question asked at every press conference involving elected Democrats.

Recently AOC, in a state of high dudgeon, bloviated as follows: “That doesn’t mean that we can kidnap a head of state and engage in acts of war just because the nation is below the equator.” William Rand and Andrew McNally will incur huge costs reprinting all maps that include Venezuela.

Question for Sandy: “What would you do with a brain if you had one?”

Kathy Hochul, Governor of a state that is bleeding wealthy taxpayers, said: “I need people who are high net worth to support the generous social programs we have in our state.” Translation: Come back and enjoy our high tax rates.

Question for the winsome Governor: “What would you do with a brain if you had one?”

There are innumerable examples of such elective idiocy but these two will suffice for our purposes. Meanwhile the plebians who joined the latest No Kings rally confirmed the abject failure of our public schools. A number of the paid protesters were unable to explain why they wasted a Saturday whining about the alleged Trumpian monarchy. They were summoned to the streets by their puppet masters. Liz Winstead, a co-creator and former head writer of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, let the proverbial cat out of the bag when she said: “When the (leadership) tells you what they need done, you do that.” Independent thinkers need not apply. Question for all the protesters: “What would you do with a brain if you had one?”

The signs the whiners carried were pre-printed (you can actually buy them on Amazon) and suggested a childlike grasp of the issues. Two Boomers were holding a sign that demanded an “End to the Kakistocracy”…yet neither could define the word kakistocracy. At every rally there were many identical signs. For example: “Charles I, Louis XVI and Trump” signs were juxtaposed with signs that threatened “You King, We Guillotine”. The protestors were clearly in support of the beheading of our elected President. Imagine if, circa 2014, you stood outside the White House with a sign that said: “Charles I, Louis XVI and Obama”. Eric “Wing man” Holder would have personally arrested you.

A number of the glassy eye zombie sign bearers were asked to identify exactly what Trump was doing that would justify describing him as a would-be king. The typical reaction was a slack-jawed look of bafflement. On the rare occasions when there was a response it almost always included an indignant accusation regarding the conduct of ICE.

Perhaps, as a means of understanding Trump’s embrasure of Divine Right, we should put the primary accusation, to wit, enforcement of the immigration laws, into historical context.

President Woodrow Wilson engaged in policies that, one might argue, are significantly more authoritarian than anything 47 has done. Under the Espionage Act of 1917 Wilson shut down newspapers that did not support his deployment of the US military in Europe, In addition, he had his political rival, Eugene V. Debs, incarcerated for six months for sedition, id est, opposition to the war.

On February 19, 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which led to the internment of 120,000 Japanese Americans. This is in contradistinction to the deportation of individuals who are in the country ILLEGALLY.

The Democrats are border line hysterical about the possibility that ICE will be deployed at voting locations in November. This is, they claim, designed to intimidate voters. Yet from 1870 to 1950 the Democrats turned a blind eye to the intimidation of Black voters across the South by the enforcement arm of their party, the Ku Klux Klan.

Yet another Democrat would-be king exercised autocratic powers in response to the Covid 19 outbreak. President Biden required Covid vaccines for government employees and members of the military and supported mandatory vaccines for students at US colleges and universities. Medical experts who did not embrace the Covid story were censored by the media, both press and social. Anyone who suggested that the source of the Wuhan Red Death was the Wuhan Institute of Virology was excommunicated from the national debate. Fauci was named Chief Prevaricator and shut down all dissent from his ego trip. We now know that the virus was created in Wuhan with the help of US scientists.

In addition, Team Biden worked with State Attorneys General to prosecute Trump and his advisors for, dare we say, trumped up charges. The raid on Mar-a-Lago in search of classified documents was a complete farce. By way of contrast the accumulation of classified documents by Joe Biden was studiously ignored. Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon served prison sentences for Contempt of Congress, a particularly heinous crime. Needless to say the real trick is not treating Congress with complete contempt.

The Russian collusion hoax was orchestrated by Team Obama in December 2016 after Trump executed the greatest political upset in US history. One could almost hear Al Michaels…”Do you believe in miracles…yes.” It was designed to cripple the Trump administration from the get go. Emperor Obama was “miffed” because his favorite sycophant, Hilliary Clinton, would be returning to civilian life.

And let us not forget the exaggerated terror that surrounded the events of January 6, 2021. Nor the media practice, especially at The Gray Lady, called “catch and kill”. Turns out the NYT would purchase exclusive stories that were perceived as detrimental to Trump’s rivals and spike them in an effort to ensure Trump would lose the election. High level censorship.

It should be remembered that King Donald I refused to prosecute Hilliary Clinton for storing classified on her personal server. Decidedly un-Kinglike behavior.

Is there any evidence that President Trump has done anything approaching the autocratic actions by his predecessors as detailed above?

Slavery 2.0

Trump carrying out his campaign promise to address the issue of illegal immigration is, apparently, the principal motivation for the No Kings protestors. The importation of new voters and fentanyl is strongly supported by the Left. Cheap, read neo-slave, labor is the life blood of certain industries such as meatpacking and dairy farming. One hilarious meme showed a white woman looking out her window and talking on her phone…the caption: “A resident of Martha’s Vineyard calling 911 to report a Hispanic man in her neighborhood not carrying a leaf blower”. It was made all the more poignant when we learned that the good folks on the Vineyard deported an entire busload of illegal immigrants to a Cape Cod military facility. The immigrants had been sent north by Governor DeSantis. So much for sanctuary in the Peoples Republic of Martha’s Vineyard.

On July 4th we will celebrate the semiquincentennial of the first No Kings rally in America. It took place in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania State House, later renamed as Independence Hall. It was entirely peaceful and all who participated knew exactly why they were assembled. There were no placards to be seen. The single accomplishment of the rally was the drafting and signing of the Declaration of Independence…an event that bent the curve of history. They served notice on a real, not imagined, King…George III of England.

Ultimately it led to the Constitution of the United States which guaranties the right of the ignorami peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances…real or imagined. It also affirms a Constitutional right to be brainless…just like Dorothy Gale’s friend the Scarecrow.
