Answers at the end of the post.
A coup d’état can be a sudden, violent overthrow of an existing government or an attempt by a fifth column within the government to remove a leader with whom they disagree. Since President Trump took office on January 20, 2017 and again on January 20, 2025 we have witnessed a death by a thousand cuts soft coup by the Left and their allies in the media, “news” and social.
Over the past 18 years we have had three Presidents: Barack Obama, a strutting ego maniac who puts the kákistos in kakistocracy, Joe Biden, a real life Bash Brannigan, i.e. a “drooling feeble-minded idiot” (movie reference alert) and Donald Trump. It should be noted that Obama had a clean and articulate teleprompter.
We find it odd that for that same period the news and social media have targeted Trump with 97.3% of their verbal ordnance. The question to be addressed is WHY?
Over the course of our history Presidents Grant and Nixon were similarly attacked by the opposition party for the purpose of undermining their respective administrations. In both cases the sappers were working hand in glove with the Democratic Party.
The most recent attempted coup actually began before President Trump formally took office. At the top of the escalator in Trump Tower on June 16, 2015, Trump was a popular business man and TV personality. By the time he reached the bottom he was a racist, a white supremacist, a Nazi and a fascist. When asked whether Trump was running as a Republican or a Democrat (he had over the years been friendly with both parties) Obama said: “I thought he was running as a joke.” The wagons were being circled to protect Saint Hilliary of Arkancide.
The media went to work immediately. Enrollment at summer camps run by Baldur von Schirach were carefully examined to see if Trump had been in attendance. Voter rolls were checked to see if Trump, like John Brennan, had voted for a totalitarian political party. KKK membership records were scrutinized to find anyone with the surname Trump. Pictures of Democrats celebrating the murder of Emmett Till were studied to see if Trump was in attendance. Alas nothing damaging was found. Nonetheless the Democrats were so confident that Hilliary would be elected they didn’t even bother to fabricate 15 million votes as they did in 2020.
Then the unthinkable happened…the neophyte outsider won. The man who threatened to Make America Great Again, threatened to dismantle the Obama coalition, threatened to undo the damage done to the economy by the eight year management by a team of abecedarians, threatened to undo the myriad of Federal “protections” imposed by the outgoing President and committed the cardinal sin of ruining what was believed to be the inevitable coronation of Cruella de Vil. To make it worse Trump promised to challenge executive actions taken by his predecessor, a man who believed in the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy and anthropogenic climate change. Truly the end was nigh and a silent coup was seen as a necessary response.
Distract, Defame and Destabilize
The Russians are Coming! The Russians are coming!
During the 2016 campaign Trump treated Obama’s ego like a pinata. In December, 2016, Obama met with a team of fabulists in the Oval Office to initiate his campaign of revenge…at the expense of America.
The seedling of the Russian collusion hoax was the Steele Dossier. Former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele was hired by Fusion GPS to do opposition research on candidate Trump. Fusion GPS was retained by the Clinton campaign through the law firm Perkins Coie. The Perkins firm represented the Democratic National Committee and they paid just over $1 million to inspire Mr. Steele’s talent for writing fiction. The Steele Dossier set out a case that Trump was an asset of the Russian government, a puppet of Vladimir Putin. It was later revealed that Steele himself disavowed most of the salacious contents of the dossier when he was placed under oath
The verdict: Fake News.
Summon The Female Janissaries
As the Left is short on testosterone they chose to rely on women to discredit Trump.
E Jean Carroll reached into the corners of her otherwise empty head to gin up an accusation that Trump had sexually molested her at some point in the prior millennium. There were no witnesses to the alleged groping and no report was filed at the time.
Christine Blasey Ford was recruited to besmirch the reputation of Brett Kavanaugh during his Senate confirmation hearing. She had all the credibility of Anita Hill. As with Carroll there were no witnesses to the alleged unwanted advances and, yet again, no report was filed at the time. Ford’s friends and family admitted to having no recollection of her alleged sexual molestation at a high school party decades earlier. Having served her purpose Blasey Ford has transitioned to a well-deserved obscurity.
Cassidy Hutchinson, a high master of hearsay, became the star witness at the January 6 Congressional Committee hearings when she came forward with a mythical tale that Trump tried to take control of the vehicle he was riding in so he could race to Capitol Hill to personally lead the insurrection, Strangely no one who was actually in the car with the President had any recollection of the attempted carjacking.
Leticia James campaigned for the office of Attorney General of New York with a promise to put President Trump in jail. She managed to recreate a Margaret Dumont role in the Marx Brothers’ production of Justice in New York.
Fanni Willis went after Trump in Georgia where she managed to self-immolate her entire legal career using her boyfriend as kindling.
The verdict: Fake News.
When in Doubt…Impeach
The first Trump impeachment was based on the President’s discussions with the Chief Mendicant of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding allegations that entities within Ukraine had interfered in the 2016 presidential election and questions about the disposition of funds provided to the Ukraine military. Such inquiries made the Democrats and the Biden family very, very nervous.
The second impeachment action, which was tried before the Senate more than two weeks after he left office, was based on allegations that Trump incited an insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. It was an exercise in verbal gymnastics reminiscent of the famous defense mounted by President Clinton…”It depends on what the meaning of “is” is”. The word that caused the entire kerfuffle was “fight”.
The verdict: Fake News and two acquittals.
And if that doesn’t work…try assassination
In the last 50 years we have had five attempted Presidential assassinations. As inconceivable (“I don’t think that word means what you think it means.”) as it sounds all five targets were Republicans. From Lynn “Squeaky” Fromme trying to shoot Gerald Ford to Ryan Routh at Mar-a-Lago the shooters were motivated by the continued barrage of media attacks on a US President which, in one case, was exacerbated by Jodie Foster playing hard to get.
The verdict: Fake News is harmful to Presidents and other living things.
President Trump has been vilified in every way imaginable: a Russian asset, a misogynist, an insurrectionist and the man who would be king. Yet he was decisively elected to a second term winning both the popular vote and the Electoral College.
He has made himself accessible to the media and his policies have, for the most part, been successful. Yet we are inundated with endless polls suggesting he is handicapped by a catalog of character flaws. He is a bully, an egomaniac (ignore the fact that he is as “umble” as Uriah Heap compared to Obama), verbally offensive, seeks increased personal power and wants his name on everything from the building formerly known as the Kennedy Center to the new ballroom in the White House.
What this endless deluge of vituperation has accomplished is to divert the attention of the country from his accomplishments and directing it toward his alleged character flaws. As the Left has no positive agenda for America’s future the dialogue is aimed at convincing the world that he is a “bad” man. Even people who voted for him and admire all of his accomplished are focused on his abrasive personality rather than what he is doing as President. If you don’t like Trump the man don’t invite him to your next quilting bee. Those who fabricate the fake news are winning the battle when they distract the voters from what needs to done and shift the focus to trivial matters.
TDS is a mental disorder but it also describes the Left…Too Damn Stupid.
