Answers at the end of the post.

Politicians over time use two insidious strategies: 1. The invocation of a terrifying internal or external enemy, and 2. A conscious program designed to erase and rewrite history. (Recommended reading: 1984 by George Orwell)

Hitler villainized the Jews arguing that they were actively undermining his vision of German invincibility. Senator Joseph McCarthy blamed any manifestation of American weakness on the “international communist conspiracy”. Team Obama raised the horrifying specter of a secret alliance between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Facts are rarely, if ever, part of the calculus.

Today the Left has injected critical theory into the ongoing effort to strike fear into the hearts and minds of ignorant American voters. Every issue is reduced to the identification of the Oppressed and the Oppressors.

Let’s review the issue of race to analyze the historic behavior of the Democrats.

As there is today no evidence of any such actual oppression they rely on ill-defined and vague bogeymen such as White Supremacy, White Privilege and “capitalism”. A bogeyman is an evil or menacing spirit, used to frighten children. As Democrat voters live in a world of childlike simplicity the use of such tactics seems to work. The enemy of the Left is white people but support of their argument requires a systematic revision of much or our racial history. The revision is reflected in a recent comment by news commentator, a Black woman, who stated: “Blacks have never had is worse in America than they do now”. Winston Smith call your office.

Bigotry is defined as an unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or fiction, reflected prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their being part of a particular group. This begs the question: Are we not witnessing an escalating bigotry against…white people?

Racial Mountebanks

The youth of America are being fed a steady diet of disinformation (where is Nina Jankowicz when we need her?). The “oppressed” in their minds include:

  1. George Floyd: A man with a long criminal history who died of a drug overdose not at the hands of a white policeman.
  2. Michael Brown: A man who never uttered the words “Hands up don’t shoot” and was killed when he attacked a white policeman.
  3. Tawana Brawley: A woman who conspired with Al Charlatan to destroy the lives of several white men with a charge of a gang rape…that never occurred.
  4. Crystal Mangum: A woman who ruined the lives of a number of lacrosse players at Duke with a charge of a gang rape…that never occurred.
  5. Colin Kaepernick: A “courageous” man who knelt during the national anthem to protest some imagined offenses.
  6. DiJonai Carrington: A WNBA player who clothes lined Sophie Cunningham during a game and when she was ejected she claimed to be a victim of “white privilege”.
  7. And the Gold Medal goes to Jussie Smollett: Smollett induced two gentlemen of Nigerian descent to undertake an act of uncommon courage, i.e. wear MAGA hats at 3 AM in Chicago. He pulled a Pavlovian twofer: claimed he was accosted by two men wearing MAGA hats and tied a noose around his own neck to remind us of the historic practice of Southern Democrats who used lynching to make a political point.

Black Role Models

Young people today have no sense of the progress we have made as a nation to put our history of racial discrimination behind us. The race riot in Wilmington, NC in 1898 is a sobering lesson as to how Black Americans were abused in the past. The story of that event has been thoroughly re-examined over the past decade. Recommended reading: We Have taken a City by Leon Prather; They Stole a City by Lauren Collins and Wilmington’s Lie by David Zucchino.

These excellent tomes make clear why the Democrats have for decades buried the story. These authors demonstrate quite convincingly that the Southern Democrats have, for 200 years, been aggressive practitioners of White Supremacy. It also explains why Democrats at large studiously ignore historical truths in order to preserve their political power.

The second reason they bowdlerize the story is that they do not want young people to learn about the amazing heroes and role models that have worked to remove the de facto shackles that have made Black social and economic progress extremely difficult. We should make an national effort to shine a light on these heroes:

  1. Abraham Galloway: A slave born in 1837 who adds new meaning to the word courage. He played a major role in helping freed slaves get to New Bern, NC, as a jumping off point to reaching the North. He met with Lincoln in the White House in 1864 in an effort to convince the President to establish colored military units to fight the Confederacy. He was also a Union spy. Note: the 1929 Encyclopedia Britannica has an entry on Adolph Hitler two years before he rose to power but not a word about Galloway. Recommended reading: The Fire of Freedom by David Cecelski.
  2. Frederick Douglass: Born a slave, died a free man. His speech in 1872 titled Self Made Men should be mandatory reading for every high school student in America. Recommended reading: Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom by David Blight.
  3. David Walker: Author of Appeal to the Colored Citizens of the World. It was published in 1830.
  4. Thurgood Marshall: Best known as the first Black Justice on the US Supreme Court. What young people should know beyond that is that Marshall was a man of uncommon courage. He was a lawyer who went into the “solid South” to represent Black defendants who managed to avoid lynching and stand trial. Recommended reading: Thurgood Marshall by Juan Williams.
  5. Jackie Robinson: Imagine the pressure of being the first Black player to appear in the major leagues knowing that if you do not excel people would conclude that “Negroes are just not ready to play at that level”. Add to that the pressure of having to play with the hopes and dreams of an entire race riding on your shoulders. Not to mention a steady barrage of threats of violence. Recommended viewing: 42 starring Chadwick Boseman.
  6. Claudette Colvin: The inspiration for Rosa Parks. Colvin was 15 years old old, unmarried and pregnant when she refused to give up her seat on a public bus to a white woman. It was decided that her personal story made her a less sympathetic plaintiff so her stunt double Rosa Parks re-enacted the entire event for the media.

This sampling of Black heroes should be known to every student in America.

The story of the 1898 coup is devastating to the narrative being pushed by the modern Democratic Party and the Left. In 1896 the Republicans (Carpetbaggers in the eyes of the Democrats) and Black leaders in Wilmington had the temerity to elect a fusion government in that city. The Democrats called that government “illegitimate” and set about to depose it…by force. The Party published a pamphlet as part of their 1898 election campaign designed to inflame the passions of their white supremacist foot soldiers. As a result the simple act of a Black citizen registering to vote required uncommon courage.

The Democratic Handbook declared North Carolina to be “white man’s country” where Blacks obey or die. A leading Party spokesman, Colonel Alfred Moore Waddell, declared” “We are resolved to change them if we have to choke the Cape Fear River with carcasses”. “Them” meant Negroes. The pamphlet stated that “there is one thing the Democrat Party has never done and never will do—and that is to set the Negro up TO RULE OVER WHITE MEN”. In 1896 there were 120,000 Blacks registered to vote in North Carolina. When the dust settled after the riot in 1900 there were 6,000 Blacks registered to vote in North Carolina…a testament to the success of their campaign of terror.

One Comment

  1. All true….unfortunately.
What I’d like to ask is, what are “we” doing to educate the ignorant voter? What are “we” doing to engage the youth while teaching them how to think for themselves? (Turning Point is not enough)

Trump needs urgent help with messaging as does the GOP.. There is more at stake now than at any other point in history and all we hear is “better than ever, bigger than ever, more powerful than ever”….

I am a staunch supporter and if that is beginning to annoy me one can imagine how the non base feels.
