Nihilism is a philosophical view that life and the universe lack objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value. The word comes from the Latin word nihil, which means “nothing”. What we are seeing in America today among the Leftist foot soldiers is nihilism, devoid of any overarching ideology or moral foundation.
What has brought us to this point in our otherwise amazing run of the American dream? What became of our Enlightenment roots and, perhaps more importantly, our moral scaffolding?
We are now victims of moral relativism with one additional troubling nuance…my facts are as valid as yours even if they are in violent conflict. In addition our education system does not provide any context for all that has transpired for the past thousand years. Not to mention that social media and the internet have made brainwashing that much easier. Is it any wonder that nihilism is an almost unavoidable outcome?
Nihilism and the mid-term elections
Race
Racism/white supremacy is the go to slander whenever one of the parties involved in a major or minor dispute is white. We are constantly told that white people. starting the Christopher Columbus, are the root of all modern evil. It serves as a justification for disregarding or “editing” any statement made by a white person. How else can one explain the acceptance of a piece of historical fiction such as the 1619 Project? It allows people of color to embrace the racist program known as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). DEI actually means “You minorities are so helpless that you can’t survive without our preferment”. It also fosters the spread of virtue signalling and social preening.
Assaulting White Values
The Smithsonian issued a document that was critical of so-called “white culture”. Among the “aspects and assumptions of whiteness” are self-reliance, the nuclear family, children should be independent, rational thinking, hard work is the key to success, respect authority, delayed gratification, be polite and the “King’s English” is the basis of communication. They are all identified as negative traits.

Economic Theory
Everything should be free but speech, thinking and enterprise. The economic accomplishments of our American heritage are denigrated and the captains of industry are “Robber Barons”. Immigrants are allowed to sneak into the country extra-legally which has an adverse economic impact on the poor in our country. Tax cuts are described as welfare for the rich…please disregard the fact that the Reagan tax cuts doubled Federal revenues in eight years. It also corresponded to an explosive growth in the overall economy. Products of our education system tend to favor authoritarian economic theories such as socialism and communism which systems effectively eliminate the economic rights of the the average citizen. And over time these systems deliver…nothing.
The Historical Record
All the positive accomplishments of the past 250 years are being whitewashed from the curriculum by our Leftist establishment. Columbus Day, for years a recognition of our Italians, is now “Indigenous People’s Day”. The principles laid out in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution are criticized as an “imposition” of white values and a perpetuation of slavery. George Washington is reduced to being a mere slave owner. Jefferson was a man who is alleged to have taken carnal advantage of a slave named Sally Hemmings…inaccurately as it turns out. Abraham Galloway, Emmett Till and the Civil Rights Acts signed into law by Grant and Eisenhower are ignored by the education system. Students are taught that our failure to stop the Shoah, the internment of Japanese Americans following Pearl Harbor and the use of the atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki were just examples of America’s racism. We are left with nothing.
Israel and Islam
Israel and everything associated with the Jewish state is evil. The Jews are called an embarrassment to humankind. Allegedly educated students chant From the river to the sea and support the proposition that Netanyahu should be arrested if he dares to set foot in the land of Mamdani. Islamophobia is afoot in the world such that the likes of Ilhan Nur Said Elmi (affectionately known as Ilhan Omar) and Abdul Al-Sayed are protected from criticism. Their affection for Islamic imperialism is, well,…nothing to see here move along.
Morality
We have referred to the never used personal moral compass of Chuckie Schumer. This sardonic reference applies to the abdication of personal morality across our culture. Polls have shown that a significant number of younger Americans believe that it morally acceptable to assassinate President Trump, Elon Musk and Charlie Kirk.. Luigi Mangione can be put out to stud at the prison in which he will be residing because women are mooning over this amoral murderer. This moral collapse is the express lane to nihilism.
And nihilism is the express lane to 1984. We must educate the electorate and inspire them to vote for candidates who wish to preserve our civil society.
