Answers at the end of the post.

In 2028 we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party. That year the first Presidential candidate of the party was elected President…Andrew Jackson, he of twenty dollar bill fame. Other than his commendable service during the War of 1812 Jackson was the perfect Democrat. He was a slave owner and signed into law the Indian Removal Act of 1830 which we know as the Trail of Tears.

Jackson’s first Vice President was John C. Calhoun of South Carolina. Calhoun argued: “I take higher ground. I hold that in the present state of civilization, where two races of different origin, and distinguished by color, and other physical differences, as well as intellectual, are brought together, the relation now existing in the slaveholding States between the two, is, instead of an evil, a good—a positive good”.

The first truly successful Democrat President was James K. Polk. Polk himself said: “There are four great measures for my administration – a reduction of tariff, an independent treasury, settlement of the Oregon boundary and acquisition of California.” He also concluded the annexation of Texas, secured a victory in the Mexican War, acquired the Oregon Territory, established the Smithsonian Institution and fully implemented our Manifest Destiny. In typical Democrat fashion the acquisition of California turned out to be a Gavin Gruesome disaster.

Democrat Presidents Van Buren, Pierce and Buchanan were mediocrities but in Buchanan’s case a dangerous mediocrity. Buchanan claimed to be powerless to stop the secession of states after Lincoln was elected, “The course of events is so rapidly hastening forward that the emergency may soon arise when you may be called upon to decide the momentous question whether you possess the power by force of arms to compel a State to remain in the Union”. His inability to make the necessary decision extended slavery in the South and brought on the Civil War.

The forgotten (intentionally?) Democrat president was Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States of America, the last bastion of US slavery. Here is his favorite whine: “I tried all in my power to avert this war. I saw it coming, for twelve years I worked night and day to prevent it, but I could not. The North was mad and blind; it would not let us govern ourselves, and so the war came, and now it must go on unless you acknowledge our right to self government. We are not fighting for slavery. We are fighting for Independence.” Logic was not his strength.

Between the Civil War and the inauguration of Woodrow Wilson the only Democrat to be elected President was Grover Cleveland and he has the distinction of being the last Democrat President to have read and understood the US Constitution. He said: “A government for the people must depend for its success on the intelligence, the morality, the justice, and the interest of the people themselves.” And to distinguish himself from Joe Biden he said: “The laws should be rigidly enforced which prohibit the immigration of a servile class to compete with American labor, with no intention of acquiring citizenship, and bringing with them and retaining habits and customs repugnant to our civilization.” Cleveland would be a MAGA Republican today.

In 1856 the Democrats gave a hint of things to come…violence rather than civil dialogue. Representative Preston Brooks, a Democrat from South Carolina, entered the Senate chamber and beat Republican Senator Charles Sumner severely with his cane. Shockingly no House office building has been named after Brooks.

We should not forget that during this 52 year run of free enterprise administrations we also witnessed the first woman to be a US Senator. The Democrats must be bursting with pride to have had the Democrat Rebecca Felton break that glass ceiling. After all she did say: “I do not want to see a negro man walk to the polls and vote on who should handle my tax money, while I myself cannot vote at all. Is that fair.” In addition she described a Methodist minister who criticized her pro-lynching views as a “slick-haired, slick-tongued, Pecksniffian blatherskite.” She was at once the first woman in the Senate and the last Senator to have owned slaves. A Democrat centerfold.

The decline in the integrity of Democrat Presidents with respect to adherence to our Constitution began with Woodrow Wilson. Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson each had a preternatural enthusiasm for dirigistic policies.

Wilson was a racist who was proud to host the premier of the movie Birth of a Nation in the White House…the presidential residence. The movie was based on a screenplay adapted from the 1905 novel and play The Clansman: A Historical Romance of the Ku Klux Klan. To burnish his racist credentials he re-segregated the Federal offices in the District of Columbia. He was, indeed, a credit to his Democrat heritage. In his zeal to immerse the country in The Great War, aka World War I, he said: “The peace of the world must be maintained by force. The right must be more than a riot.” Note the inherent contradiction in that mental dropping. Virtually Kamalaesque.

In the almost 200 years since Jackson entered the White House there has been an asymptotic decline in the intellectual, philosophical and moral standards of the Democrat Party. It is sobering to note that the descent has not been all that dramatic as it began with a slave owner who implemented the forced migration of the Cherokee people from their ancestral lands in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina to new territories west of the Mississippi River. A rich and continuous history of discrimination and intolerance.

We must not forget the many Democrats, a veritable rogue’s gallery, who worked assiduously to ensure that Black Americans would not share the American dream…Richard Russell, George Wallace (“Segregation now, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever!”), Orville Faubus,, Herman Talmadge, John Stennis and Theodore Bilbo (“The object of this policy (segregation) is to prevent the two races from meeting on terms of social equality.”) The Democrat Party call for resistance to integration is memorialized in the “Southern Manifesto.” This document, a response to the Brown v. Board of Education decision, was crafted by Robert Byrd (“I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side.”) and other U.S. senators, including Arkansas’ J. William Fulbright, and Mississippi’s James Eastland. It invoked Civil War-era theories of states’ rights. The decades of racial violence, disenfranchisement and lynching were disappeared. It was made clear that the Court’s Brown ruling was “destroying the amicable relations which have existed between the White and Negro races.” It should be noted that Joe Biden eulogized Byrd when he died in 2010.

Norman Rockwell’s timeless and powerful depiction of the integration of schools in Little Rock:

The descent is complete. Today we have arrived at a moment in history when the Democrat Party is represented by the following ignorami:

Alexandria Ocasio Cortes: “It’s a physical impossibility to lift yourself up by a bootstrap, by your shoelaces? It’s physically impossible. The whole thing is a joke,”

Rashida Tlaib: Tlaib was rebuked for her defense of the chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.

Ilhan Omar: She said she would not mourn Charlie Kirk because “he downplayed George Floyd. He opposed Juneteenth.”

Adam Schiff: He endlessly repeated his personal fever swamp fantasy that there is “plenty of evidence of (Russian) collusion or conspiracy in plain sight”. They just couldn’t produce any of this evidence.

Jasmine Crockett: Crockett went on CNN and compared Trump’s deployment of ICE in Democrat run cities to the “slave patrols” of the antebellum South, when white men hunted and captured escaped slaves. Those slave patrols were established and operated by her Democrat precursors.

Joe Biden: In 1977 he said: “Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point.”

This confirms the observation that Joe Biden is an existential threat to Darwin’s theory of evolution. It is time for Darwin to study the decline of the Democrat Party so that he might revisit and revise his theory,

This just in! Jimmy Kimmel, over-paid and under-talented, has been suspended by his employer for peddling falsehoods about the murder of Charlie Kirk. This is outrageous and we must rise as one to protect Kimmel’s right to yell “I am stupid” in a crowded theater.

  2. Cheers to Grover Cleveland, his decency and respect for law and order and the Constitution! Boo to the rest of the Dems. Thanks for the history lesson, Bryce!

Match this definition with a selection of masterful display of challenging vocabulary….. unctuously hypocritical; sanctimonious.

  3. Darwin had a solid and defensible understanding and argument for the evolution of external, physical characteristics of living creatures. But the democrat party is clear evidence that he was wrong about the evolution of the human brain. If the brain were truly advancing, Cortez, Omar, Schiff, et. al. would never exist.
Your knowledge of history is always enlightening.
