Answers at the end of the post.
The edifice of the Democratic Party is precariously balanced on a three legged stool. The legs that support the Party are ignorance, dependence and fear. They want their voters to be ignorant such that they can be more easily manipulated. They want their constituents dependent on government programs such they can threaten that their political opponents plan to eliminate the golden handcuffs, They instill fear across the electorate to ensure blind Party loyalty.
Ignorance
It must be remembered that in the antebellum South it was against the law to teach slaves to read and write. This compulsory ignorance would, the slave owners believed, avoid the possibility that the bondsmen might acquire a desire to seek freedom. Frederick Douglass was an example that education could be a fatal risk to the economic system embraced by the Democrats throughout the South.
After the Civil War the Democrats perpetuated the enforced ignorance of the freedmen by segregating the education system. Black schools did not receive the resources required to provide a quality education for their students. Those Black students who worked to get a high school diploma, more often than not, could only matriculate into what we now call historically Black colleges and universities. For years these schools were regarded as second rate so career options were limited.
Today the Democrats continue the antebellum suppression of education by operating failing schools in urban areas with minority populations. In Illinois they recently admitted that there were 24 schools at which not a single student passed the Math or English standardized tests…that could only have occurred because of the abject failure of the local Board of Education to actually engage in the practice of education. This is not the only example of the abdication of teaching in inner-city schools. In 2024 thirteen High Schools in Baltimore did not have any students “who were at grade-level proficiency in math”. It has been argued, by way of excusing this performance, that math is “racist”, a legacy of white supremacy. Ignorance is winning.
In addition many school systems fail to provide any perspective with respect to the history of race relations in this country. They allow intellectual frauds such as the 1619 Project to be taught and Critical Race Theory is a staple throughout the country. The latter doctrine emphasizes the conflict between the oppressed and the oppressors. The intent is to teach that the deck is stacked against Blacks. The result is that these educationally deprived “students” are more susceptible to fearmongering by the Democrats.
Perspective
The issue is not just what isn’t taught it is rather what is suppressed by curriculum censorship.
Young people know all about George Floyd, who died of a drug overdose, because it happened when the Satanic Donald Trump was President. Yet they know nothing about Emmett Till who was murdered by racist Democrats in the Solid South. Till’s mother was so upset that she demanded an open casket for her son so the world could see what the white murderers, both of whom were exonerated, had done to her son.
They know Colin Kapernick who became known for his refusal to stand for the National Anthem of the “racist” United States. But know nothing about Jackie Robinson who broke the color barrier in our national pastime. Robinson was an amazing person. Imagine the pressure of having to perform at the highest level of his sport knowing that the hopes and dreams of an entire race were riding on his success.
They know Ta-Nehisi Coates who wrote a book that lost all credibility on page five on which he embraced the “Hands up, don’t shoot” fantasy involving Michael Brown. Yet they have no knowledge of the classic book (and the movie based thereon) by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird. Lee was raised in Southern Mississippi and was well acquainted with the racist depredations of the Democrats in Dixie.
They know and adore the manifestly unqualified Ketanji Brown Jackson but find Clarence Thomas, who was raised in Gullah, Georgia, by his grandparents after his father abandoned the family, to be an embarrassment.
They are unaware that there have been six Civil Rights Statutes passed by the Congress and signed into law since the Civil War. The first, in 1866, was initially vetoed by President Andrew Johnson, a Democrat. It became law when the Republican controlled Congress overrode his veto. The Civil Rights Statutes that passed under Grant (2) and Eisenhower (2) were vigorously opposed by the Democrats in Congress. The one law they do remember is the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that was signed into law by Lyndon Johnson, What they don’t know is that LBJ implemented counter measures to reduce the impact of the law.
Johnson promulgated the not so Great Society and planted the seeds for the destruction of poor families. During the Johnson Administration the National Welfare Rights Organization, an organization of primarily African American women, began organizing to defend welfare recipients’ rights. Working with lawyers in community legal aid offices, recipients filed hundreds of court cases challenging the administration of AFDC. The objective was intended to establish a federal constitutional right to a minimum adequate income. It was intended to increase dependence of citizens on government welfare. Under the Aid to Families with Dependent Children law funds were distributed to women with children. The payments were, however, dependent on the absence of a father in the household. As a result Black children raised in one parents households rose, according to Thomas Sowell, from less than 20% before 1964 to more than 70% today.
They are not taught that Republican President Ulysses Grant sent the US military into the South to destroy the newly formed Ku Klux Klan, the brainchild of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a former Confederate Army general. The KKK went underground but had a rebirth in the early 19th century. Democrat Woodrow Wilson assisted in that rebirth by allowing the premier of the movie Birth of a Nation to be held at the White House. The movie was based on a book by Thomas Dixon entitled The Clansman: A Historical Romance of the Ku Klux Klan.
They do not study the Wilmington race riot of 1898. Recommended reading: We Have Taken a City by H. Leon Prather. The City of Wilmington, NC had the audacity to elect a Republican government in a formerly Confederate state. Black participation in the new government was an immediate result. This did not sit well with the Democrat establishment in the rest of North Carolina and they staged a coup d’etat overthrowing the duly elected government. The Black population of Wilmington was terrorized. Many were killed and a large number were driven out of the city. At the statewide level the impact was devastating. Prior the the coup there were 120,000 registered Black voters in the State but by the elections of 1902 there were only 6,000 registered Black voters. This event is not even taught in Wilmington.
They have no knowledge that the much criticized Insurrection Act of 1807 (criticized for any application other than on January 6, 2021) was used by Republican President Eisenhower to enforce the integration of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, The Democrat Governor Orville Faubus believed it was a blasphemy to have white children sharing a classroom with Black children. Another demonstration of the fear the Democrats have of educated Blacks.
They are unaware of the decision by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) to publish a document entitled the Aspects and Assumptions of White Culture in the United States. This anti-intellectual disparagement of white culture impugns such concepts as Individualism, Nuclear Family Structure. Self-reliance, the Scientific Method, Protestant Work Ethic, Delayed Gratification, Respect of Authority and, oddly, Being Polite. They have since removed the document from their website.
This racist document dismisses personal characteristics that many understand are necessary to ensure success in a merit based world. In addition challenging “white culture” is designed to increase the racial divide in America.
They are not taught about the unanimous Supreme Court decision Brown v Board of Education that was handed down in 1954. That decision ended legal segregation throughout the entire country. The Brown decision is viewed as a turning point in the civil rights movement. Legal barriers were removed from the statute books and, despite Southern Democrat opposition, it was a signed, sealed and delivered invitation to Black citizens to pursue the American dream.
Schools should jettison DEI and focus on MEK…Merit, Excellence and Knowledge.
Without these facts and perspectives it is impossible to appreciate the collective progress Americans have made over the past 75 years.
The next post will address the dependence leg of the stool.

All true. And depressing, given where we are. I am purposely not saying where we are headed for we have arrived and are starting to grow roots.
The only burning question left to address is what the GOP does about it now?
Being in power at the moment is very precarious and if we don’t change perceptions immediately we will loose the country and this time there will be no coming back from it. At least not in our lifetime,
Katie Gates
Seems like social justice and social education ( as you convey – recognizing Marxist figureheads, their story and campaign over any degree of intellectual or academic prowess) supersede hundreds of years of traditional equality under the law Biblical justice based on the moral code/10 commandments. Social education is nauseating and currently many districts lament the woes of underfunding when they’ve spent billions on Marxist, ineffective curriculum, teacher trainings etc to indoctrinate the educators and subsequently indoctrinate the student sheep. ITs downright terrible. We could un the district better with 2 million dollars, massive administrative firings and overhaul, with curriculum reform along with discipline, moral standards, giving failing grades and not allowing kids to pass. Oh yes and and penalties for disruptive behavior.
Thanks for all these nuggets of history and wisdom you touched on in your GOP talk and that you clarified well here!
