We are rarely provided a chance to peer into to life’s microscope thus affording us the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Crick and Watson double helix, the DNA of an organization.
In 1898 a seminal event took place in Wilmington North Carolina. Republican politicians and Black leaders created a fusion government to manage the city. Black Wilmingtonians were placed in positions of authority. It has been written that Wilmington was “arguably the most integrated city in the South”. One author noted that “W. E.B. Du Bois’s “mystic years” of Reconstruction “lasted longer in Wilmington than almost anywhere in the nation”. It appeared to be the fulfillment of Abraham Lincoln’s hope that our new nation “conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal” would endure.
Unfortunately that proposition was not only not embraced but actively opposed by the Democrats in power in North Carolina. Democrat politicians across the state decided that the “illegal government” in Wilmington had to be dismantled and “White Supremacy” had to be re-established. The Ku Klux Klan and the Red Shirts were dispatched to Wilmington to rectify the situation. The Red Shirts were armed gangs of white men who formed the terrorist wing of the Democratic Party. These advocates of white supremacy were dispatched to engage in terrorism and intimidation during the Wilmington elections of 1898. A document entitled The White Declaration of Independence served to justify what some have called a coup d’etat in Wilmington. Many called this coup a “racial massacre”.
In 1984 H. Leon Prather published a book entitled We Have Taken a City. It was re-issued in 1998, 100 years after the eventa in Wilmington. It is a compelling reconstruction of the coup/massacre in November 1898. An undetermined number of Black Wilmingtonians were murdered and a significant number of those who survived were driven from the city. Black businesses were destroyed. As a result of the intimidation of voters who had the audacity to elect Republicans and Blacks to positions of authority the number of registered Black voters across North Carolina was reduced by more than 100,000.
It is troubling to note that the 1898 Democratic Party endorsed coup is not taught in the Wilmington public schools.
On July 14, 2026 a new book was published about the Democrat suppression of the hopes and dreams of the Black citizens of Wilmington. The title is They Stole a City. The author, Lauren Collins, is a native of Wilmington and a graduate of New Hanover High School. She admits that she had learned nothing about the events of November 1898 until 2016. This confirms that the subject is a closely guarded secret in Wilmington. In fact, it should be a source of pride that Wilmington was “arguably the most integrated city in the South” in 1898. It must be inferred that the story is suppressed because it is a glimpse into the DNA of the Democratic Party.
The non-fiction portion of Ms. Collins’ book is well researched, well documented and beautifully written. It is the fiction that begins on page 360 that undermines the authors credibility and makes clear her political bias.
2028 will mark the 200th anniversary of the election of the first Democratic President. Andrew Jackson was a precursor of the entire two century history of the Party. He was a slave owner, the author of the Trail of Tears and had led the military effort to eradicate the Seminoles, one of the “Five Civilized Tribes” of American Indians. At the risk of being repetitive we will again note for the record that the Democratic Party was the party of slavery, the Confederacy, segregation, lynching. Black voter suppression and Jim Crow. The suppression of Black hopes and dreams at the hands of the Democrats continues to this day.
Inexplicably Ms. Collins, in a complete non-sequitur, transitions from well documented facts to a world of fiction, She writes “with the Black Lives Matter movement gaining purchase across the country” the events of 1898 became part of the political dialogue. It has been well documented that the group this blog refers to as SBLM…Some Black Lives Matter…is a scam. The owners used contributions to buy million dollar homes and expensive cars and have not raised a finger to address the murder of young Black men in Democrat controlled cities such as Chicago, Baltimore and Washington DC. In any case it has nothing to do with the events of 1898.
On page 370 she tries to compare the coup in Wilmington with what she describes as the “ultimate coup d’etat on American soil”. She is, of course referring to January 6, 2021, which was, in fact, an attempt to end President Trump’s political career by staging an “insurrection” on Capitol Hill. It appears to have been a concerted effort by the Deep State, read Democrats, to induce Trump to bring in troops to take over the Capitol. How else do we explain the fact that there were 275 FBI agents among the assembled protesters that day allegedly for “crowd control”…none were wearing FBI identification. And why isn’t Ray Epps in jail?
Ms. Collins coup de grace is the inclusion of a chapter that conveys all of the symptoms of Stage 5 TDS. She identifies President Trump as a racist and a white supremacist. It is, of course, delusional as Trump is neither a racist nor a white supremacist. He was awarded those epithets simply by descending on an escalator in Trump Tower in June of 2015. Prior to that short ride he had never been accused of racism. It is clear that her slanderous accusations are designed solely to divert attention from the role of the Democratic Party in the events of 1898 and the entire 200 year Democrat repression of Black Americans. DEI is one of the most racist concepts that has been inflicted on the body politic. DEI is shorthand for “You Black people aren’t smart enough make it on your own so you need our help to do complex things like getting a photo ID”. DEI exists to ensure dependence on the Democrats and the government and has the intended effect of undermining Black self-confidence. It is also an essential element of virtue signalling and moral preening which is the lifeblood of AWFELS.
Ms. Collins stopped mentioning Democrats in the middle of her book and began referring to “white supremacy”. It is interesting that the North Carolina Democrats who orchestrated the Wilmington coup/massacre openly called upon their supporters to re-establish white supremacy. She also omits discussion of other serious Democrat terrorism that took place in Houston in 1917, Tulsa in 1921 and Rosewood Florida in 1923.
Nor does she make any reference to the various hoaxes that the Democrats have perpetrated against the so-called white supremacists: Tawana Brawley (hoax), Jussie Smollett (hoax), Crystal Mangum and the Duke Lacrosse team (hoax), Jackie and the UVa fraternity alleged rape (hoax), Michael Brown (Hands up don’t shoot hoax) and George Floyd who died of a drug overdose. Compare those well publicized scams with the murder of Emmett Till in Mississippi in 1955…beaten beyond recognition, shot three times and thrown in a river tied to an industrial fan. Very few people know anything about Till and it should be noted that the white woman who accused him of “accosting” her on the street recanted her story before she died. The two Democrats who killed Till were acquitted by an all-white jury in about 15 minutes.
I have recommended Ms. Collins’ book to a number of people because the non-fiction portion is fantastic. I also recommend that they take an Exacto knife and cut out pages 360 through 373.
